Twelve Stations
2003, interactive quicktime
I recorded the public enactment of a passion play in a Dominician neighborhood
in the Bronx (New York City). Inspired by Hans Memling's Scenes
from the Passion of Christ and multi-frame Renaissance paintings,
I placed twelve edited segments (each a different station in the narrative)
inside a larger frame. Rolling over the outside panels starts the
slideshows, clicking the panels plays a given sequence in the center panel.
The simultaneous montage gives a sense of an expansive community playing
out a ritual drama.
